Finding Us

  • Public Transport

    Tube: Our aparthotel is on the corner of White Church Lane and Commercial Road, a 3-minute walk from Aldgate East tube station (Hammersmith & City/District lines) and 6 minutes from Aldgate tube station (Metropolitan/Circle lines). Additionally, the Elizabeth Line is only a short 10-minute walk from Whitechapel.

  • Yes, we do have a space for loading vehicles too, so you can be dropped off by cab easily.

  • From Heathrow: take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and get on the Circle line to Aldgate

    From Gatwick: the easiest route is to get the train to Blackfriars, then change to the District Line to Aldgate East. Or you can take the train from Gatwick to London Bridge then get on the Northern Line to Bank before transferring at Monument to the District Line, get off at Aldgate East and The Gate Aparthotel is just 3 minutes’ walk away.

  • We are outside of the Congestion Charge zone. However, we are inside the ULEZ and the LEZ charge zone (low emissions zone) this means vehicles need to meet the ULEZ standards or pay a daily charge. Find out more HERE

  • Although we don’t have hotel parking, there are some nearby parking solutions, we recommend you check out this website.

Staying with Us

  • Yes of course! However, this is subject to availability, and we will always do our best to get you into your room as soon as we can. Rest assured, if you are early, you can always relax in the 5th Lounge in the comfort and help yourself to complimentary soft drinks. Our check-in time is 3pm.

  • Yes of course! We can offer a late check out for a small fee, subject to availability. For some of our room packages when you book directly with us, we offer a late check out, otherwise our check out time is 11am Please contact us directly if you would like to enquire more or simply add upon arrival or during your stay.

  • Yes, we are. The Gate is a hotel with disabled access. We have plenty of rooms that have been designed to easily accommodate those who use a wheelchair. These rooms are also complete with an emergency alarm, mobility wet-room showers and handrails. Our communal spaces such as the ‘5th Lounge’ is spacious enough for wheelchairs.

  • Covid restrictions have now eased in the UK, however, we continue to operate our deep sanitisation practices. Masks are now a personal choice, but you may feel it is prudent to use one if you are in more confined space such as the lift.

  • Some serviced apartments are complete with a washer and dryer – perfect for those travelling with active families and for our long-stay guests. If you prefer, we also use an outsourced, eco-friendly laundry service! Just ask one of our teammates at reception.

  • We have studios, one bed and two bed apartments. Depending upon the configuration, apartments have beds for 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children. For more details, please contact us.

  • Yes, a gym with Peloton bikes! We have an excellent space for maintaining your fitness with state-of-the-art Techno Gym equipment there’s no excuses for not shedding the excesses of all those delicious dinners and nights out on the town!

  • As a special activity for our guests, we hold weekly complimentary workshops and yoga classes in East London that may include learning how to arrange dried flowers, creating an aromatherapy oil or understanding mindfulness with tea ceremonies and other relaxing practices. Please ask us for the weekly events schedule.

  • Of course, you may leave your belongings with us while you go out and explore on the day you check-in or depart.

  • We offer free high speed Wi-Fi internet access everywhere at The Gate.

  • Every 3 nights you stay we will give your room a light clean, dusting, emptying the bins, replenishment of bathroom and kitchen amenities. Stays longer than 7 nights will get a once weekly full clean, including a bed and bath linen change.

  • Yes, The Gate is a pet-friendly hotel! We have a pet policy of up to 2 animals per room. There are some rules, of course, but your furry friend can stay free of charge. Please contact us directly if you would like to book as we do allocate our Family and Accessible rooms for pets mainly as they are more spacious.

  • Upon request, we are delighted to provide you with sleeping cots and highchairs to help your stay with your family be as hassle-free as possible.

  • For the comfort of all our guests and team we are a non-smoking environment.

Our Rooms & Apartments

  • There are 189 unique rooms and apartments at The Gate. ‘Studios’, ‘Apartments’. ‘Penthouse’ and ‘Residence’, all offering different sizes, views and the apartments are designed for families or those who are making The Gate their home for a longer stay.

  • Yes, we do, please confirm this when booking. Some of our interconnected rooms are from one bedroom Skyline apartment to Skyline studios. Some of our serviced apartments are spacious enough for 2 adults, and with a pull-out sofa bed, 2 young kids too. However, we can accommodate babies with travel cots sharing their parents’ room. As soon as you have made your booking, please call us or email directly to check the availability and book a cot.

  • Studios: King-sized Hypnos Bed, well-equipped kitchenettes, Nespresso machine, oven, fridge, kettle, and iron. Large bathroom with deluxe Le Labo bathroom products, Hairdryer, robe, slippers, a workspace, armchair. A flat screen TV with soundbar and fast free Wi-Fi.

    Apartments: Dining and lounge space, King-sized Hypnos Bed, well-equipped kitchenettes, Nespresso machine, oven, fridge, kettle, and iron. Large bathroom with deluxe Le Labo bathroom products, Hairdryer, robe, slippers, a workspace, armchair. Two flat screen TVs with soundbar and fast free Wi-Fi. Our serviced apartments also feature a sofa bed that can be pulled out to provide an extra bed if required.

Dining

  • The beauty of staying in an aparthotel is that you have the freedom to use the kitchen facilities in your room or apartment. Otherwise, we have a delicious menu offered by Maple & The Gate, our very own restaurant in East London. We have an all-day dining menu, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • Welcome to aparthotel living! In some designated apartments or studios, you have a full oven and a fridge making your stay very convenient

  • We offer a relaxed approach to dining at The Gate. Food, freshly prepared by Maple & The Gate is available from 7am until 9.30pm and can be eaten in your room, in the lobby area or in the ‘5th Lounge’. Grab a bite to eat at our restaurant in Aldgate East.

  • Some packages include a tasty breakfast, if you have booked a stay with no breakfast, you are most welcome to modify your booking or pay when you stay. Breakfast is served from 7am until 10am daily in the ‘5th Lounge’.

  • We do not offer room service, but you are most welcome to pre-order your food and dine in your room, in the lobby area or in the ‘5th Lounge’. You can also order outside food deliveries too!

Bookings, Changes & Cancellations

  • Can I change or cancel my booking?

    Yes, you may. Many of our rates are fully cancellable when you book directly on our website. Please refer to the T&Cs shown during the booking process and in your confirmation email. If you need to amend a booking, then please contact us directly and we will be happy to help. reservations@thegate-london.com

    Our cancellation policies for bookings made directly with us are as follows:

  • Because we offer a discount of up to 35% off for ‘Extended/Long Stay’ bookings of 29+ nights or more, our T&Cs are as follows:

    • Changes to the length of stay may result in a rate change including early departure fees.

  • All reservations require a credit card guarantee at time of booking. Kindly ensure you bring a photo ID with you and the credit card you booked with. A deposit of £150 of pre-authorisation from your card will be required at the time of check-in.
